Does wordpress handle hosting?

  I have purchased a domain name and if i decide to use wordpress with a domain transfer, will my site be online? obviously it will still need work but the question is wether wordpress handles hosting or if i need a third party service like GoDaddy

  When using WordPress.com your site is hosted on the WordPress.com servers and you don’t need an additional hosting company.
