Adjust font spacing

In this guide, you will learn how to adjust line height (space above and below text) and letter spacing (space between characters) using the typography settings in the WordPress editor.

Line height controls the vertical spacing between lines of text within a block. Adjusting this setting can make your content more readable and visually appealing.

To adjust the line height:

1. Click the text block you want to edit (such as a Paragraph, Heading, or List block).
2. In the block settings sidebar, locate the Typography section.
3. Find the Line height option.
   • If you do not see Line height, click the ellipses menu (⋮) next to Typography to select it.
4. Enter your preferred value. The default is usually 1.5.
5. Preview your changes or click Save to apply them.

You can adjust the space above and below specific elements across your site in the Styles section of Appearance → Editor.

Letter spacing sets the space between each character of your text. Increasing or decreasing this value can affect the overall look and readability of your content.

To adjust letter spacing:

1. Click the text block you want to edit (such as a Paragraph, Heading, or List block).
2. In the block settings sidebar, locate the Typography section.
3. Find the Letter spacing option.
   • If you do not see the Letter spacing option, click the three dots (⋮) icon next to Typography to select it.
4. Enter your preferred value.
5. By default, the size is measured in pixels. Click “px” to change the measurement unit. Learn more about measurement units.
6. Preview your changes or click Save to apply them.

You can adjust the between characters in specific elements across your site in the Styles section of Appearance → Editor.
