This page explains how to transfer posts or notes securely from Facebook directly to your WordPress.com site.

Get started with Facebook Import

To import your Facebook notes and posts to your WordPress.com site, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the data transfer page at https://facebook.com/dtp.
    • You may need to log in or enter your Facebook password again to visit that page.
  2. Click the “Create export” button.
  3. Choose your profile: If prompted, select the Facebook profile you want to export content from.
  4. Choose where to export: Select the “Export to external service” option.
  5. Choose destination: Select “WordPress.com/Jetpack” as the destination and click the Next button.
  6. Choose export frequency: Select an export frequency (Once, Daily, Monthly, Yearly) and click the Next button.
  7. Connect with WordPress.com/Jetpack: Click the Connect button and approve access to your WordPress.com site. Make sure to select the correct site here:
  1. Start export: Confirm your export including which Facebook profile you’re exporting from, the notification email, and customize what content will be exported (Posts and/or Notes.) Click the “Start export” button.

Once confirmed, the transfer will start. It should take up to a few hours to complete, and Facebook will notify you when the transfer is done.

Editing and publishing the imported posts

All imported Facebook content will be saved as draft posts. You can review and publish them by clicking on Posts in your site’s dashboard.

Since Facebook posts do not include titles, they are exported with a generic “Facebook Post” title, followed by the date and time the post was created. While you can edit the post title before publishing it on your site, it can also be hidden by editing the Single Posts template.

Facebook Import supported content

As a general rule, Facebook will export posts you created on your personal timeline. Due to the platform’s privacy rules, some posts may be excluded from the transfer.

If a Facebook post is just a link, it will not be imported. Only link posts that include written text (in addition to the shared link) are exported by Facebook.

Facebook currently does not enable video, image, and event imports into WordPress.com sites.

For complete details about supported and unsupported content, please visit Facebook’s Help Center.
