Native Sponsored Posts

Last reviewed on July 14, 2025

Sponsored Posts may appear on free WordPress.com sites. These sponsored posts promote WordPress.com content, other Automattic products, and brands for the purpose of driving traffic and sales for users and advertisers.

For now, you may see these Sponsored Posts running on your sites as we expand testing.

In the longer term, we hope to offer Sponsored Posts to our users as a way to help drive traffic and promote content discovery.

Remove Sponsored Posts

If you have a free WordPress.com site, you can remove the Sponsored Posts (and our other advertising) by upgrading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I control what Sponsored Post content appears on my site or how it appears?

Today, like with all advertising on free sites, we offer no controls for Sponsored Posts. We currently do not run Sponsored Posts on sites that participate in the WordAds program, but if we do, we will consider various controls and opt-outs for this type of advertising and share that information on the WordAds blog

How do I report Sponsored Posts that may be broken or inappropriate?

Sponsored Posts must follow the same standards that all advertising does. If you see objectionable content that violates our terms of service, please click the “…” buttons in the upper-right corner and follow the prompts. Please include as much information as possible, including screenshots and where and when you saw the issue.

Will Sponsored Posts slow down my website?

Our Sponsored Posts are built just like any regular post, so they will not impact page load time or response.
