Disable newsletter emails

Last reviewed on March 5, 2026

If you want to turn off newsletter emails for a specific post or stop sending post notification emails altogether, this guide covers the steps to do so.

Do not send an email for a post

Sometimes, you may not want an email notification to go out for a new post. In that case, take the following steps:

  1. Click the Newsletter icon in the upper right corner of the editor (the icon looks like a paper airplane).
  2. Click on the “Post only” button.

Selecting “post only” ensures the post is not sent by email upon publishing.

Post Only is selected in the Newsletter section.

Disable all post notification emails

Post notification emails (i.e., newsletter) are not sent when a site’s privacy settings are set to private. To prevent a specific post from being sent as an email, use the per-post toggle described above.

This section of the guide applies to sites with the WordPress.com Business and Commerce plan. If you have a Business plan, make sure to activate it. For free sites and sites on the Personal and Premium plans, upgrade your plan to access this feature.

On sites with the Business plan or higher, you can turn off the newsletter completely and stop post notifications from going out by following these steps:

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Jetpack → Settings.
  3. Select the “Newsletter” tab.
  4. Disable the “Let visitors subscribe to new posts and comments via email” option.
