Let visitors rate your content

You can add ratings to your posts and pages for visitors to click on and rate your content. This guide will show you how to create and customize a ratings widget with stars or thumbs up & down options. Here’s an example of how it can look:

Use this ratings option when you want your readers to rate something. If you wish to choose the rating (such as for your review of a movie or restaurant for example), use the Ratings block.

Create a star rating widget

To create a 5-star rating for your site, take the following steps:

  1. First, log into our sister site Crowdsignal by clicking on the Login button at crowdsignal.com. You can log in using your WordPress.com account.
  2. Click “Create new” and select the Rating option.
  3. Click the title field and give your rating a name.
  4. Customize the widget to your liking using the options for size, type (stars or thumbs up & down), layout, fonts, and text.
  5. Click the “Save rating widget” button.

Add the rating to your site

  1. Still in Crowdsignal, click the Sharing tab and then click WordPress.
  2. Where is says WordPress.com Users, copy the shortcode provided. The shortcode will look something like this:

  1. Edit the page, post, or template where you wish to add your interactive rating on your site.
  2. Click the + block inserter and add a Shortcode block.
  3. Inside the Shortcode block, paste in your shortcode from Crowdsignal.
  4. Click the Save button, then check out the new rating widget on your site.
