Add a logo to your website

A logo is an image that represents you or your brand that is typically placed in a prominent position at the top of a website. This guide will show you how to add a logo to your site.

Create a logo image

If you’re just getting started with your website, project, or business, you may not have a logo yet. Keep the following advice in mind when creating a logo image:

  • Use a .png file with a transparent background so the logo does not appear with a white box around it when you place it on your website.
  • Keep the design simple so it will look good on all screens, big and small.
  • The recommended size of your logo will depend on your theme, but 200px wide is a good starting point to experiment with.
  • Create a smaller version of your logo to use as your site icon.

To create a logo for your website using Fiverr, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Fiverr logo maker website.
  2. Enter the name of your company or blog and a slogan, if you have one, and click Generate.
  3. Fiverr will automatically create logos for you. You can choose your preferred design and customize the color, font, font size, spacing, positioning, and more.
  4. After you purchase your logo, you can download the image file.
  5. Upload the logo image to WordPress.com following the steps in the next section.

In most cases, you will add your logo using the Site Editor. However, if your site uses a classic or third-party theme, you may need to use the Customizer to add or edit your site’s logo.

A quick way to determine if your site uses the Site Editor is to check under Appearance in your dashboard. If you see Editor here, you use a Site Editor theme.

Select the appropriate tab for your interface:

To add a logo to your site using the Site Editor, follow these steps:

  1. From your site’s dashboard, navigate to Appearance → Editor.
  2. Click the homepage preview on the right, or select the patterns tab to customize a specific template part.
  3. Select List View in the top-left corner of the editor. It’s the icon that looks like three horizontal lines above each other.
  4. Browse the sections of your header:
    • Most header template parts already have a Site Logo block.
    • If you don’t see a Site Logo block, use the + Block inserter to add one.
  5. Select from one of the following options in the block toolbar that appears:
    • Choose Logo: You will see this option if you haven’t added a site logo yet.
    • Generate with AI: Click the three stars to generate a logo using AI.
    • Replace: Use this option to replace or reset your site’s logo.
  6. In the block settings sidebar, customize the following settings:
    • Image width: Use the slider or enter a number to set the width of the logo.
    • Link image to home: Link your site logo to your site’s home page. Optionally, select the option to open the link in a new tab.
    • Use as site icon: Set your site logo as your site’s icon (what appears in browser tabs.)
  7. In the block styles sidebar, customize the following styles:
    • Image style: choose between default, or rounded. When rounded, a square image will be a perfect circle while a rectangle image will be an oblong shape.
    • Filters: Add a two-tone color effect using the Duotone filter setting.
    • Image dimensions: Add space around the image using the Dimensions settings.
  8. Click the Save button to publish your changes.
