You can add emojis — small digital images or icons used to express an idea or emotion — to your WordPress.com pages and posts.
For best performance, we use the system emoji where available. When the viewer’s device does not support the latest emoji, WordPress.com uses Twemoji, the open-source emoji library maintained by former Twitter (X) developers.

Ask our AI assistantOn a computer, you can use the built-in emoji keyboard of your operating system.
If you’re using a Mac on the Yosemite OS or higher, click Command + Control + Space on your keyboard. An emoji selector will appear. Click the emoji you want to add to your content.
On Windows version 8 or newer, click the Windows key + either the period (.) or semicolon (;) until you see the emoji picker appear.
Windows users on version 7 and below can copy/paste emoji from a service like GetEmoji.com or use the emoji shortcuts listed below.
You can insert emojis in your pages and posts on a smartphone or tablet using our Jetpack apps.

On WordPress.com, these emoticons convert to emoji automatically. They stay as text in the editor and convert to emoji when your post is displayed on your site.
To keep emoticons as plain text instead, a plugin such as Keep Emoticons as Text can disable the automatic conversion.
Here is a list of all the emoticons that convert to emoji:
