Add tax details to your account

You can add your VAT, GST, or consumption-based business tax ID details to ensure you only pay the appropriate tax, and your tax details are added to your receipts. In this guide, you will learn how to add your VAT/GST/CT tax details to your account.

Add tax details during checkout

You can add VAT/GST/CT tax details during checkout when you are making a purchase. To add tax details during checkout, follow these steps:

  1. Add the plan or subscription to your cart.
  2. Navigate to the checkout page.
  3. Enter your billing information.
  4. If you’re in a country with a consumption-based tax, you will have a checkbox with the text “Add VAT details”. You will not have the checkbox if your billing address is not in a country with a consumption-based tax.

  1. Tick the checkbox and enter the requested tax details:

  1. Complete the checkout.

Your tax details will now appear on all receipts. To view your receipts, click “View receipt” or “Email receipt” in your billing history.

Add tax details after purchase

You can add VAT/GST/CT tax details after you have made a purchase, ensuring the appropriate tax is applied to future purchases and your receipts reflect your tax details.

To add your tax details after purchase, follow these steps:

  1. Click your profile at the top-right of your dashboard.
  2. Select Purchases from the left menu.

  1. Click the “Billing History” tab.
  2. Click the “Add tax (VAT/GST/CT) details” button in the upper-right corner.

  1. Select your country and enter your tax ID number, organization name, and address.
  2. Click “Validate and save“.

Your tax details will now appear on all past and future receipts. To view updated receipts, click “View receipt” or “Email receipt” in your billing history.

Change or delete tax details in your account

Once you have added your tax details, you will need to contact support to modify existing tax details in your account.

If you have a new tax number due to moving countries, changing business needs, or any other circumstances, we are happy to update or delete your tax details in your account.

Add other types of tax details

If the tax details you are trying to add are not accepted by the VAT field, and you need to be able to include tax details for your own records, you can customize your billing receipt.

To add business details (like non-VAT supported tax information) to your billing receipt, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your WordPress.com account and visit your account profile.
  2. On the side, select the Purchases option.
  3. Click the Billing History tab.
  4. Click a specific receipt, and in the “Billing details” section, add the necessary information.
