The WordPress Editor lets you create and design pages, posts, and your site’s structure. In this guide, you’ll learn how to access the editor and find resources for creating content.

Access the WordPress Editor

You can access the WordPress Editor in different ways depending on what you want to edit.

Edit the website design

To edit your website’s structure, navigate to Appearance → Editor in your dashboard. From here, you can edit:

If you don’t see Appearance → Editor, your theme does not support the Site Editor. Consider switching to a supported theme to access the latest editing features.

Edit individual pages

To create or edit a page from your site’s dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Pages in the menu on the left.
  2. Click the “Add Page” button to create a new page, or click the title of an existing page to edit it.

You can also create or edit pages through the Site Editor by following these steps:

  1. From your site’s dashboard, navigate to Appearance → Editor.
  2. Select Pages on the left side.
  3. Click the “Add Page” button to create a new page, or hover over a page and select the Edit option to the left of the page title.

Edit individual posts

To write new posts or edit existing posts, follow these steps:

  1. From your site’s dashboard, click on Posts.
  2. Click the “Add Post” button to create a new post, or click the title of an existing post to edit it.

Write and design with the AI assistant

This section applies to sites created with the AI Website Builder (all paid plans) or sites that have enabled the AI assistant (Business and Commerce plans). Open the AI assistant by clicking the AI icon (a four-pointed star) at the bottom of the screen.

The AI assistant can help you write and design content directly in the editor. Here are some things you can ask it to do:

  • “Write an introduction paragraph for my About page.”
  • “Generate a three-column features section for my homepage.”
  • “Improve the readability of this paragraph: [paste text].”
  • “Suggest a layout for a product landing page.”

Build pages with AI agents

You can use AI agents like Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, OpenClaw, and more to read and edit your website securely. Enable MCP tool access for AI agents.

AI agents can create and update pages and posts on your site directly. Here are some things you can ask an agent to do:

  • “Add a hero section to my homepage with a welcome message and a Get Started button.”
  • “Create a new About page with three columns describing my services.”
  • “Update the headline on my homepage to ‘Welcome to [site name].'”
  • “Add a contact form to my Contact page.”
