Embed an Amazon Kindle book

Last reviewed on December 2, 2025

A perfect tool for authors and book reviewers, the Amazon Kindle embed is used to display a free, readable sample of an Amazon Kindle book directly on your site so visitors can start reading a book without ever leaving your page.

This guide will show you how to add the preview block and feature the book of your choice.

Step 1: Copy the Amazon book URL

To embed an Amazon Kindle book on your site, you will need a link (URL) to the book. To find the link, take the following steps:

  1. In a new browser tab, go to the Amazon store for your country and find the book you wish to share.
  2. Copy the full URL from your browser’s address bar. It should look something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XX00000/

Often, Amazon links are very long. You only need the short, essential part of the link for the embed to work. For example, a long link might look like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Your-Book-Title/dp/B00XX00000/ref=sr_1_1?crid=...

All you need to copy is this part:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XX00000

You can safely delete everything from /ref= onward.

Step 2: Paste the Amazon book URL

Now that you have the link to the Amazon book you wish to embed, paste the URL on a new line in the WordPress editor. The link will automatically turn into an embedded Amazon Kindle book that your visitors can interact with on your site.

You can also add the Kindle book link to your site using the Amazon Kindle Embed block. To add the block to your site, take the following steps:

  1. Go to your site’s dashboard.
  2. Depending on where you want to display the Amazon embed, navigate to:
    • Page: Go to the Pages section of your menu.
    • Post: Go to the Posts section of your menu.
    • Template: Go to Appearance → Editor and select the template.
  3. Once you’re in the editor, click the + block inserter icon and search for “kindle”:

  1. Click the block to add it to your page, where you can now paste the Amazon URL into the box provided:

  1. Click the Embed button. The block will automatically load and display the book cover, which is now an interactive preview.

How it looks

Here’s an example of how the Amazon Kindle embed will appear to your visitors:

Once embedded, visitors will see the book’s cover on your page. When they click on the “Free preview” button, a reader window opens directly on your site. Inside this window, they can:

  • Read a free sample of the book.
  • Navigate through the preview pages.
  • Click a link to purchase the book on Amazon.

The preview works on desktop and mobile devices.

  • Any book that has a Kindle version with a “Look Inside” feature on Amazon can be embedded.
  • Using the direct URL to the book’s product page is the most reliable method. Avoid using shortened amzn.to links if possible.
  • This block works for books on any international Amazon domain (e.g., amazon.co.ukamazon.deamazon.jp).

Replace the embedded Amazon book

Once you have added an Amazon Kindle Embed block, you can replace the book displayed within it or remove the block completely from your page. To replace the book:

  1. Go to your site’s dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the page, post, or template where the banner is located.
  3. Select List View in the top-left corner of the editor.
  4. Click the Embed block item in the list view:

  1. In the block toolbar, click the Pencil icon to enter a new Amazon book URL:
