Adjust an image’s resolution

The image resolution is important for a site’s loading speed. However, in some cases you may need to increase the resolution of an image if the quality is more important than the load time. In this guide, you will learn how to adjust the resolution of an image.

To adjust an image’s resolution, follow these steps:

  1. Start at your WordPress.com dashboard.
  2. Edit the page, post or template where you added the image
  3. Click on the image you want to adjust the resolution of. 
  4. Open the sidebar settings by clicking the “Settings” icon in the top toolbar.
  5. Locate the “Resolution” section and choose one of the following options:
    • Thumbnail
    • Medium
    • Large
    • Full Size

If you do not have the sidebar on the right, click the Settings icon in the top-right corner to bring up the settings. This icon looks like a square with two uneven columns:

You can configure the setting for each of the resolution sizes through Media Settings.
