A CITIZEN’S OPINION ON `BANGLADESH SARKAR 1971’ BY H.T. IMAM

Bangladesh Sarkar 1971’, a book written by HT Imam is part historical account, part memoir, but mostly a document to create confusion about the history of early days of Bangladesh. As cabinet Secretary of Mujibnagar Government, he had a unique opportunity to see historical events closely as they unfolded. The central tenet of his book is to prove that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did not declare the independence of Bangladesh in the early hour of 26th March of 1975. He tried to establish in his copiously referenced book that it was Tajuddin Ahmed who declared independence `officially’ on 10th April, 1975.
