Domains »Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar > mail boxes
-
hello,
I’m moving my site to be hosted by another company.
I did all the process, and everything is going well.
But before I change the nameservers to point to the new place, I want to know what will it happen to our current email accounts (including all the emails that are stored there).
I read http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/ a the bottom of the page ‘I have an email address on my domain. What will happen to my email?’
I contacted my new host, and asked about it, and I was told that:
a) Once you change the domain nameservers, it will take 24-48 hours for DNS propagation time.
b) after this period users won’t notice any change
c) they will be accessing their emails, and see their previous emails (sent and received) with no problem.
Can you please kindly confirm that this is correct?
Initially I was also told to go to my domain in wordpress and ‘To point the domain email servers to us, you will have to ask them to point the domain MX record to the mx of the new host.
But then, they say that if I transfer the nameserver as well, I don’t need to delete the mx records in wordpress.
My concern is that users can access their email account without losing any data/information.Many Thanks for your clarification,

Hi lapfama,
I looked at your Whois records and you seem to have transferred your domain with your DNS records intact. I hope your email works fine as expected!
