  Do any blog I create with wordpress have to have the .wordpress.com – can’t it just be (blogname.com)?

  If you want a unique domain name without the WordPress.com part, you need to buy the Domain Name Upgrade. There are instructions for doing that in the FAQ at the head of the forums.

  The answer is found here in these threads below. Unless you purchase a domain mapping upgrade the url must contain .wordpress.com
