  I have designed two websites using a different system, on the other hand this WordPress thing is just a whole load of stress, the most complicated headache I have ever encountered. On the verge of binning it all and losing the money!!!!!

  WordPress.com isn’t that difficult, in fact it’s much easier compared to other CMS. A good starting point to learn using wordpress.com is at https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/new-to-wordpress-com-resources-to-get-started/
