Webangon Site Backup
·
Back up and restore your WordPress database and files, download archives, and import a backup created on another site.
Create content or full backups, restore from an archive, download archives, and upload/import archives created on another site (demo / content packages).
A standalone, framework-free backup and restore solution built specifically for WordPress.
Features:
- Content backup — database + uploads. A portable demo/content package.
- Full backup — database + uploads + plugins + themes.
- Restore — restores the database (with automatic site-URL replacement) and files from any archive. Temporary tables are used so a failed restore does not corrupt the live database.
- Download / upload — download archives for migration, or upload an archive produced by this plugin to import it.
- Resumable engine — large backups/restores are processed step by step via background (loopback) requests so they survive PHP timeouts. If loopback is blocked, the admin page’s status polling keeps the process moving.
No external framework or library dependencies.
Where are backups stored?
wp-content/uploads/webangon-site-backup/ (protected by an `index.php` and `.htaccess`).
Archives are standard .zip files containing database.json.txt and an f/
folder with the backed-up files.
Requirements
- PHP 7.0+.
- A zip backend. The PHP Zip extension (ZipArchive) is preferred — it is fast and processes archives in resumable chunks. If it is not enabled, the plugin automatically falls back to PclZip, the pure-PHP zip library bundled with WordPress (needs only zlib / gzopen, which is almost always present). PclZip works everywhere but uses more memory, so very large archives are slower.
- HTTP loopback connections enabled (recommended). If not available, the admin page must remain open during an operation so its polling can drive each step.
Notes
- A Full restore of plugins/themes needs filesystem write access. On hosts
without direct access, configure
FS_METHOD/FTP_*constants in wp-config.php. Content restores (database + uploads) do not require this. - Uninstalling the plugin removes its options but leaves your backup archives in place.
