Gebruikers avatars laten uploaden kan een uitdaging zijn in BuddyPress community’s. In tegenstelling tot profiel velden kunnen avatars niet verplicht worden gesteld. Het probleem is dat een community met weinig avatars van echte gebruikers er niet uitnodigend uit kan zien. Leden directories en widgets zien er uiteindelijk saai en inspiratieloos uit. Te veel standaard “mystery man” avatars die rondzwerven kunnen de indruk wekken dat het sociale netwerk overspoeld wordt door spammers.

Gebruik
Eenmaal geactiveerd en geconfigureerd, zal het avatar upload veld automatisch verschijnen in het BuddyPress registratieformulier. Gebruikers kunnen hun avatar uploaden tijdens de registratie. De avatar wordt tijdelijk opgeslagen en wordt pas definitief gemaakt als het account van de gebruiker is geactiveerd, door bevestiging per e-mail of goedkeuring van de beheerder.
