Take control of your email validation and blocking needs. Easily set up email blocklists and mx checking on WordPress email functions to reduce bounce rates and unwanted signups, and reduce the reliance and charges from third party APIs.

Features

  • Email blocklist – Add email addresses and domains to a blocklist to stop users from spamming your site.

  • Check MX records – Make sure that an email address has valid MX records before sending email.

  • Monitor only mode – The plugin will allow all email and just log the details (where configured) so you can assess the usefulness of the plugin and ensure no false positives.

  • Strictness control – Decide what you want the plugin to do when it can’t parse an email record when sending email.

  • External list synchronization – Keep your blocklist up to date by pulling in from a remote URL and set up an automated schedule. Tested with lists with over 250k domains on basic shared hosting (although your milage may vary).

  • Logging – Decide when you want to store the what, when and why an email was allowed or blocked.

  • Multisite support – Multisite networks are fully supported, with each site being treated independently to manage their own blocklist and settings.

  • Define your settings through constants – Add some code to wp-config.php to define constants so that you have full control if others have access to your site(s). Find out how in the documentation.

  • Expandability – Use the hooks that are exposed to expand the plugin and add your own functionality. Find out more in the documentation.

Pro Features

The free version is fully usable, but additional functionality is available in Capably Digital Email Validation and Blocklist Pro. If you feel like upgrading, it can be done in your WordPress dashboard from the free version.

  • Set a default action – Choose whether you want the plugin to block or allow an email address when it’s not present in the blocklist. Useful for running members sites where you can run a strict whitelist for self service user registration.

  • Email address validation – Check an email addresses parent domains, collapse plus addresses and set minimum lengths for both the local part and domain.

  • Sync multiple lists – Configure multiple list sources that will be combined and synchronized, with some of those being whitelists to ensure nothing is blocked you don’t want to.

  • Check A records – If the MX record check fails, you can also check for a valid A record, which can be used as a fallback under the specifications.

  • Scrub emails – When an email address is found to be invalid, remove it from the email being sent while keeping the valid recipients in place if the email is still valid.

  • Log granularity – Decide what to log and whether to anonymise the data, from subject to email addresses and names to the email body itself.

  • Automatic log deletion – Automatically delete logs to assist with complying with data protection regulation.

  • Front end shortcode – Display a message on the front end of your website if a users email address is on the blocklist. Add it to front end account pages where normal users don’t have access to WP Admin. Find out more in the documentation.
