Upanigen — Upcoming Anime Generator

Upanigen creates normal, editable WordPress posts for future anime episodes. It retrieves airing schedules from AniList, lets administrators review upcoming episodes, and can download selected cover or banner images into the WordPress Media Library.

Main features:

  • Filter future episodes by AniList genres and optionally include adult titles.
  • Preview episodes before creating posts and exclude individual series.
  • Import episodes up to 60 days ahead with paginated AniList requests.
  • Create standard WordPress posts using configurable title and Gutenberg templates.
  • Choose English, Romaji, or native anime titles.
  • Use banner or cover images with configurable fallback priority.
  • Download featured images into the Media Library and reuse them for later episodes.
  • Display a configurable countdown with [upcoming_anime_countdown].
  • Customize countdown colors, borders, spacing, radii, and typography using validated visual controls with a live preview.
  • Restore only the countdown design to defaults with a confirmed reset action.
  • Edit the episode premiere date and time from the WordPress post editor.
  • Run manual synchronization and inspect recent synchronization logs.
  • Optionally enable daily automatic generation. It is disabled by default.
  • Use the included light countdown design or disable the plugin stylesheet.

External Services

This plugin depends on AniList to obtain anime genres, titles, descriptions, episode numbers, airing dates, links, and image URLs.

The plugin sends HTTPS POST requests to https://graphql.anilist.co when the administrator loads genres, creates a preview, runs a manual synchronization, or when the explicitly enabled daily synchronization runs. Requests contain the GraphQL query and schedule variables such as page number, page size, and the requested Unix timestamp range. The plugin does not intentionally send WordPress user accounts, post content, email addresses, or authentication credentials to AniList. As with any HTTP request, the remote service receives normal connection metadata such as the site’s server IP address and request headers.

When image importing is enabled, WordPress downloads the cover or banner URL returned by AniList. These files are commonly served from AniList-controlled image domains such as s4.anilist.co. The downloaded file is stored in the local WordPress Media Library.
