Available on Perenne
by AutomatticThis theme primarily focuses on showcasing journal-style blog posts with a strong emphasis on the entry dates. Perenne is about playing with the concept of time. The name is a homage to Horace’s verse “Exegi monumentum aere perennius”.
The design elements of Perenne are few and distinct. The homepage features a single block of text formed by the list of dates, each representing an individual blog post. This layout highlights the journal-like nature of the theme. Similar to notebooks themselves, charm comes with time, when they are filled—the theme will grow gradually as someone starts publishing and will only take its intended design form once there are many entries.
The individual post template resembles a film script design. Each entry starts with the date and includes the site title adjacent to it. When a featured image is added to a post, it will appear in the corner of the page without taking up much space, ensuring that the primary focus remains on the date and journal entry text.
Perenne is meant to be niche, adding a unique design to our repertoire of blog themes. The main navigation element is the site icon, here shown as a dark circle with a light dot, directing users back to the journal index. Users are encouraged to replace the icon with their own asset.
