Ury

Ury is a minimal blogging theme designed for comfortable, distraction-free reading. Instead of a top nav bar, a fixed sidebar holds your site title, tagline, and navigation while your posts fill a wide content column beside it — and it stays in view as readers scroll. Named after the German Impressionist Lesser Ury, the theme puts the text first: classic serifs, soft hairline dividers, and generous space for writing. Featured images get room to breathe too, so it suits image-forward blogs — art, photography, essays — as much as plain writing.

• Built for reading first. The blog home presents full posts in a continuous reading flow rather than excerpt cards, with chevron arrows and page numbers to move between pages. Archives and search results switch to a compact title-and-date list.
• The sidebar is your masthead. Site title, tagline, navigation, an optional avatar, a Recent Posts list, and social links live in the header template part — edit it once in the Site Editor and it follows readers down every page. On phones, it stacks neatly above the content.
• Restyle the whole site in a click. Ury ships seven typefaces you can mix and match through built-in style variations — the serifs Cooper*, Spectral, Sorts Mill Goudy, Newsreader, and Wittgenstein, and the sans-serifs Quattrocento Sans and Atkinson Hyperlegible — offered as ready-made pairings, plus three color schemes: light default, warm sepia, and dark mode. Every font ships with the theme; nothing loads from third parties.
