Today we launched a redesigned admin bar, the handy toolbar you see at the top of every WordPress.com blog when you’re logged in. We’ve retired the old flat blue look in favor of something that better matches the swanky new WordPress.com dashboard.
The new admin bar is designed to command less attention — the previous blue bar had a tendency to clash with some themes. With the new design, the admin bar should recede into the background — available when you need it, not too noticeable when you don’t.
We’ve also included a few extra touches of style for users of the latest-generation browsers with the best CSS support.

Maybe you could adapt the new ‘monotone for photoblogs’ thing to pick up the blog’s colors for the bar. Or let us choose our own colors for the bar, like others’ have requested.
I liked the old blue one… until I saw this one, it’s really great, and I love the chance to quickly edit posts.

very nice. i’d like to be able to see the blog (“visit site”) without having to go through the dashboard. one step less would be nice, i think.

WordPress needs to add a LogIn button to each page on its site, PLEASE, including the Q&A pages, how-to pages, etc. It’s really inconvenient to get absorbed into the site, and have to back your way out just to sign in. Also, a ‘back to previous page’ arrow would be helpful. There seems to be a disconnect between the pages, and having to use the back button over and over to get to a particular page, is a pain.
