Show off your creative talent and express why you love blogging (and WordPress) through an original design, to be printed and sold on laptop and iPhone skins to adoring bloggers everywhere.
Winning designs will be sold in the Infectious store and shown off on the backs of laptops and iPhones the world over. Winners are chosen by community vote on Infectious, with the final say made by an all-star judging panel: Matt Mullenweg, Matt Thomas, Derek Powazek, and Team Infectious.

I placed a post up yesterday asking a Q/ but it doesn’t seem to e here, Q/ was, can we get readers of our blogs to enter provided they stay within the criteria that is set down. Be nice to know, as we have a nice following that I’m sure would eventually become bloggers at some stage. So why not give them an incentive now.

what if we dont have photoshop or adobe?
Unfortunately you will need to use one of those programs to enter the contest. If you’re enrolled in a school or college, it’s likely that they have Illustrator of Photoshop in a computer lab.

The “I ❤ Blogging” theme is open to interpretation. You can create anything you like in response to that prompt.

Considering this is a competition with financial rewards attached, do you have any legal disclosures about the ownership of the artwork submitted? I’d imagine it would follow the use of WordPress as expressed through the terms and conditions of membership.

hey so i have a few questions, can we save in png? and can we possibly use paint.net i dont know if thats higher or lower? as well as do we submit for a iphone cover or a laptop one, or just make the 600×800 pic and you extend it to what ever cover?

i’m using linux so can’t use adobe products on it. But GIMP can produce PSD output which origins to Photoshop. Would that be ok ?
Word from Infectious is that as long as they can upload a PNG or JPG that meets the upload specs and can give them final artwork that is 300dpi at scale, that’s a-OK!
i’m getting confused…am i supposed to work on the template that they’ve given(AKA hide the layer and work) and then export my image or create a whole new image?

I don’t think anything is wrong with a competition like this. Everyone wins — the WordPress community gets a cool iPhone/laptop skin and the skin designers get some great cash and prizes. And in addition to that, WordPress.com is a business that needs to make money in order to keep the servers running and the people that develop and support the site employed.

As a new blogger who struggled just to pick the right design for my blog from the Word Press templates, I think I’ll sit back and watch you creative types work your magic. Maybe I’ll participate next time!

You can submit any file format that you would like. However, be advised that if it wins the images must be very high quality jpegs (300 dpi at scale).
