The content you publish on your site is the result of a lot of behind-the-scenes activity — and we’re not talking only about drafting posts and pages. Emails, meetings and events, documents and spreadsheets: as business owners and publishers you have a lot to juggle.
We’re excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with Google to offer our users the incredible power of Google Apps for Work right in their WordPress.com dashboards.
A powerful suite of tools
With the Google Apps for Work integration you’ll be able to set up your own custom email address based on your domain, putting a professional face on all your communications. For example, if your custom domain is yourgroovydomain.com, you can choose an email address like requests@yourgroovydomain.com or team@yourgroovydomain.com.
The custom email address is just the beginning. Google Drive (for storing all your files), Google Calendar, Hangouts for group video chats, and more — all are now within easy reach of your site, and available on your desktop as well as your mobile devices.
Using Google Apps for Work alongside your WordPress.com site makes it easier and faster to work with team members, partners, and customers.
Set up Google Apps for Work right from your dashboard
When you purchase a new custom domain, you’ll now have the option to register your domain with Google Apps for Work. You can choose between a standard subscription for $50 per domain per year, or go for Google Apps for Work with unlimited storage for $120 per domain per year.

You can find all the information on setting up your domain with Google Apps for Work on our support page.
Note: Google Apps for Work is currently available for new custom domains only. Already have a domain? Stay tuned for a future announcement when we make Google Apps for Work available for existing domains as well.
How does the unlimited storage with Drive work? Does that carry over to your WordPress storage like for media attachments?
Google Apps for Work is an entirely separate service from your WordPress.com account. The storage limits for Google Apps only apply to your Google Apps account.
Nice! When do we get Google Analytics support? 🙂
This looks really interesting. Though I guess it will be of more use to businesses rather than individuals who write one or two posts a month, (like me)
The Science Geek
Right on!!!
So, is any chance to see “G+” and “Google Translate” widgets for wordpress.COM blogs?
Great to hear I can finally have a separate email for my blog! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely SUPER! Just as I’m in the midst of creating a new business site.
Very cool – Google Apps for Work sounds great! Thanks for writing about it.
Sounds like a good thing. Now just how to use all these new tools
Does it give access to HD google hangouts?
Yes, it does.
Well then I CAN’T WAIT for it to come out to us folks who aren’t new.
What is there for the free user of wp as well as google app?
Google Apps is a premium service that requires the registration of custom domains. It won’t actually work with the free, default WordPress.com domain (e.g., john@example.wordpress.com would not work on Google Apps, but john@example.com would, assuming that John is the owner of the domain example.com).
Actually i have one client omkarfarm.com who has this domain registered and have wp.com site and mapped it to that domain. Now how can take advantage of this google app facility?
At the moment Google Apps for Work is only available for new custom domain registrations, but stay tuned for future announcements when we roll out it out for existing domains as well!
I have a question that I hope is not totally unrelated. I have been running DadaMail for a “report” list for years–just a plain, simple mailing with quite a few followers. Recently DadaMail has upgraded to incorporate WordPress themes. My DadaMail is a free service, but the upgrade would involve paying for the WordPress theme.
How is that different than using the Google Calendar and maybe a few plug-ins on a regular blog?
Hi there! To better assist you, I opened a private support ticket and sent it to your email address. Please feel free to follow up through that thread.
Hi, I help managing several WP blogs and this seems interesting. I wait for new announcements. Thanks
That sounds great! I look forward to it becoming available for existing domains, this should solve all my technical issues 🙂
Great…is there something for outlook mail users…?
We don’t currently offer a similar service for users of Office 365 Small Business Premium (Microsoft’s equivalent to Google Apps). If you already h ave a custom domain, though, you can just sign up directly through their site by following the instructions on this page:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/add-email/add-email-through-office-365/
Alternatively, if you’re using Outlook on your desktop, you can still sign up for Google Apps for Work and sync it with your software. Check out Google’s instructions here:
https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gappssync
Thanks. Your response was well written and very informative! I will follow your suggestions.
Awesome; looking foward to this. Loving it
Do we know if this still applies here: “Unlimited Storage (or 1TB per user if fewer than 5 users)”.
If this limit doesn’t apply here then it’s great deal for fewer team members.
Yes, that limit does apply to the Google Apps with Unlimited Storage solution for $120/user/year. The standard Google Apps solution ($50/user/year) includes 30 GB of online storage.
Google Apps for work, especially email looks these days like the best choice for serious email managing. I tested many options, but this is overall really good solution.
I find it amazing that Google seem to be putting more effort into WordPress than Blogger. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I returned to WordPress recently. The updates and efforts you guys make puts everyone else to shame. Well done.
Hope to do this on experimental basis soon.
Very helpful. Will we also have access to Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is not currently available on WordPress.com sites. We do offer a very robust stats tool to users, which you can view by clicking on Site Stats in your Dashboard.
For more information, please check out this page:

Can you tell me why this might be better for a Google user? Right now I can open a new tab on my browser and get Google for free. Why is this worth paying for beyond getting one dashboard?
Google Apps is a suite of productivity tools that include Gmail (email), Calendar, Drive (storage), and Hangouts (HD videoconferencing and chats) that you can use with your custom domain. So, for example, if you register the custom domain example.com to use with your site here at WordPress.com, you can also add Google Apps and get an email address using that domain, e.g., jane@example.com.
Google’s search engine (google.com) is indeed free, as is Google’s other basic services like Gmail and Calendar. Google Apps for Work is a way for users to have an upgraded, professional suite of all those services under their new custom domain.
