1and1 domain not forwarding consistently

My domain name (www.LiquidAlohaOils.com) is registered at 1and1.com. Recently it stopped working. I called them and they say it’s not on their end. It seems it works on some computers, but will not work on my cell phone (new iPhone) or any of my friends cell browsers. Not sure why this would be happening or if this is a WordPress issue or 1and1?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

That site is not hosted with us, so we’re not able to help with this.

If you suspect it’s an issue with the WordPress software, you can find help with the open source version of WordPress you’re using at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Hi – I am sorry, i didn’t explain that well. The domain name simply forwards to http://www.jenniferboggs.wordpress.com The redirect works on some computers, but doesn’t work on anybody’s cell phone. I have asked several people to check. They CAN get to http://www.jenniferboggs.wordpress.com however. but it seems like when it forwards/redirects, it doesn’t . it says “safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found”. I have spent hours with 1and1 and they say it’s a wordpress issue. any ideas?

  • This is not a WordPress issue, as we have absolutely no control over your domain. Any forwarding or redirect you have set up on that domain is controlled by your domain provider, and if it’s not working, it’s because it’s not set up correctly on their end.

It might be because you have a “www” in there. We do not use “www” on WordPress.com, and if you have a redirect set up to https://www.jenniferboggs.wordpress.com/, it will fail.

Set up your redirect to http://jenniferboggs.wordpress.com/ instead (NOTE: both leave out www and use the http version rather than https), and there’s no reason someone won’t be able to get to your site correctly.

If what you want is actually for your WordPress.com site, jenniferboggs.wordpress.com, to appear at the domain, LiquidAlohaOils.com, then you don’t want a redirect/forwarding at all.

To properly connect a domain to a WordPress.com site requires a paid WordPress.com plan and domain mapping upgrade, and that you then point your domain’s DNS to us rather than just setting up a redirect at your domain provider.
