301 redirect wordpress.com blog to new wordpress.org site (different structure)
-
I’m wondering if there is a way to redirect posts from my current backyardcitypools.wordpress.com site to a new self-hosted wordpress.org blog. I read about site forward, but my current wordpress.com posts are structured as: backyardcity.wordpress.com/date/postname. The posts that I imported to the new wordpress.org BLOG (http://www.backyardcitypools.com/SwimmingPoolBlog) are structured without the /date/ in the URL (better for SEO Purposes). Is there a way to 301 redirect in this case?
example old post: http://backyardcitypools.wordpress.com/2012/05/24/tranquil-pool-fountains-help-you-relax/
needs to 301 to new post: http://www.backyardcitypools.com/Swimming-Pool-Blog/tranquil-pool-fountains-help-you-relax/
Thank you

Yes but you need to make friends at WordPress.ORG to do that – you will need to do the mapping on a post by post basis I think and that mapping will be done on your new site (outside of your WordPress software I think) – but I don’t think you can change the way things are forwarded from your old site here – the help Forum at WordPress.ORG should be able to help – we don’t have access to the files required to change things here – there also might be a Plug-in that will do the work for you –
