  Site has suddenly crashed and all I am getting is a 404

  A sudden 404 error across an entire site usually points to an issue with your .htaccess file or a change in your domain’s DNS settings. Since you are using a custom domain, first check your hosting control panel to ensure your ‘Domain Mapping’ or ‘A Records’ haven’t expired or pointed away from the WordPress servers. If your DNS is correct, you can often fix this by logging into your dashboard (if accessible), going to Settings > Permalinks, and simply clicking ‘Save Changes’ without modifying anything—this forces WordPress to regenerate the redirect rules that tell the server where your pages are located. If you can’t reach the dashboard at all, contact your domain provider to see if there is a ‘Client Hold’ on the domain or a server-side outage.
