502 Bad Gateway Error on WordPress.com Site – Need Assistance

    Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a frustrating issue with my WordPress.com site. When I try to log in via the WordPress.com dashboard, I encounter a 502 Bad Gateway error. However, I am able to access my site through the dashboard on ttcath.org without any issues.

    Here are the details:

    • Error message: “Whoops! There was a small systems error. Please try refreshing the page and if the error is still there, drop us a note and let us know.”
    • Issue: This only happens when accessing the site through wordpress.com. Everything works fine on ttcath.org.
    • What I’ve tried:
      1. Cleared browser cache and cookies.
      2. Tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox).
      3. Checked the WordPress.com status page for any ongoing outages (none reported).
      4. Verified my DNS and SSL settings.
      5. Tried accessing from different networks and devices (same issue persists).

Given that I can still log in via ttcath.org, I suspect this might be a specific issue related to my domain or network configuration.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Hi! You’ve done a really thorough job troubleshooting already. Since the issue is specifically with accessing through wordpress.com but not through your own domain ttcath.org, this points to a WordPress.com backend issue tied to how your domain is mapped rather than anything on your end.

    A few things to try:

    1. Try accessing your dashboard directly through wordpress.com/home/ttcath.org instead of the standard wordpress.com login — this sometimes bypasses the mapping issue.
    2. Check if your domain mapping settings are fully up to date under My Sites > Upgrades > Domains in your dashboard.
    3. Since you’ve already tried everything on your end and the issue is isolated to the wordpress.com side, this really needs to be looked at by WordPress.com staff who can check the backend connection between your mapped domain and your WordPress.com account.

I’d recommend contacting WordPress.com support directly at wordpress.com/help/contact and including all the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken — that way they can skip straight to the backend investigation.

Good luck, hope it gets resolved quickly!
