a few things I want to be sure about moving from wp com to org

    Hello :)
    I hope you can help me out

    a few questions to be sure moving from wordpress.com to an installation on a server

    I know how to transfer to files, import export etc,
    but I’m not sure, I’m now using this domain http://www.hopeandeyes.com
    on my wordpress.com, this domain was not bought from wordpress (and it’s the same domain that I want to use on the server)

    so, when I install the blog on the server, and will use of-course this domain, what will happen in the minutes of the moving? if viewers will enter http://www.hopeandeyes.com they will enter the new installation of wordpress.org, and basically view an empty site?
    (if i won’t be able to complete the process on those minutes)
    what will happen to my permalinks, will they break?

    i’m using domain mapping, I need to cancel it, or maybe it’s best, so it will transfer my hopeandeyes.wordpress.com viewers to new address?

    During the period where the domain name is shifting, viewers will be directed to one site or the other. It’s impossible to predict which. It can take up to 72 hours for the DNS to settle out. There’s no way to expedite the process.

    As long as you use the same permalink structure on your new blog as your old one, the links will all still work.

    OK thank you very much
    so it’s normal that now (it’s not been 24 hours yet)
    that I can access only the http://hopeandeyes.wordpress.com/ domain?
    , any of the two adresses redirects me to the http://hopeandeyes.wordpress.com/ domain
    I thought I”l be able to move the content from the com website to my new installation in this time
    I need to wait till the domain shift is over yes? or maybe something went wrong
