A parked former domain?

    Hello!

    I would like to use ashlynnandersen.com as my domain name. It was my domain name. Under Account Settings, it says it’s already my website address. It did used to be. I deleted the other domains I had and all the content off ashlynnandersen.com, but when I go there now it says the domain is ‘parked’. How do I unpark it?

    AND, When I go to the blog from a link in my notifications, it says ‘No longer available, the authors deleted the site.’ Which got my eyes all big and my heart dropped– because my understanding is that once its deleted, it cannot be retrieved. Is this the case?? Is there any way to use ashlynnandersen.com ever again??

    Hi there,

    It looks like you cancelled that domain on 28 March, along with your other domains, and then you deleted the site to which it was connected.

    Free WordPress.com addresses cannot be recovered if they’ve been deleted more than 30 days ago, but with custom domains it works differently.

    Custom domains are eventually released again, but it can take anything from a few days to over a year before this happens, and there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to get it back once it’s released – if someone else were to register the domain once it’s released they’d become the new owner, and you’d be out of luck. So you should never cancel a domain if there’s any chance you’ll still want to use it in future.

    In this case we can still restore ashlynnandersen.com for you, but we need to connect it to a free WordPress.com site or you won’t be able to access any of the domain’s settings. Please create a new free WordPress.com site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/, and let me know once you’ve done that, then I can reactivate the domain for you.
