A Record

I’d like to connect my existing WordPress pages to an external domain name through BlueHost, and I was told to contact you to find out the A record to make that happen. Thanks!

  • Hi! Are you able to use our name servers instead? That may be better than setting an IP since we have a more than one, and they can change. If we’re managing the DNS on our end, you won’t have to update the IPs because we’ll handle it for you.

You’ll need a paid plan, which will prompt you to map or transfer your domain: http://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

Then you would use these name servers:
    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

Within a few hours of completing both of those steps, the site will work here. And, if you need to copy any DNS settings over from Bluehost, you can do that too. In fact we aim to pick them up for you when you do the mapping, but if you need to add any manually, here’s how:

Let us know if you need more help with this!
