A Subpoena and a Transferred Website – and No Answers?
-
I’ve previously reviewed WordPress’ Legal Guideline but cannot find an answer to my question.
I’ll try my question in a different way.
A WordPress.com website is transferred to another WordPress.com Account.
After the transfer of ownership, Automattic receives a valid subpoena (complies with all rules, regulations, policies of Automattic and Federal/State governments).
Automattic decides to comply with this particular subpoena.
The subpoena requests the following two items:
1 – The IP address from which the site was created. (This would be information regarding the original owner.)
2 – The IP address for a post that the original owner made. (This would be information regarding the original owner.)
QUESTION:
Would Automattic provide the IP addresses of the original owner of the website or the new owner or both? You can email me the answer if you want: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @lindagates5, do you have a private conversation open on this? If so can you respond there instead?

Supernovia,
I don’t have a “private conversation” one on this.
Should I start one to get my question answered?
How is that done?
WordPress’ Legal Guidelines State: “We aim for total transparency with our users…”
CAN SOMEONE ANSWER MY QUESTION ?

@lindagates5 you have an email thread open with our legal / TOS department. Please respond there (or wait for their response) rather than posting in the community forums. TOS and legal issues are not handled here. Thank you!
