A total newbie, cant update from version 4.8

  Im a total newbie. I make my site look nice but any back end stuff I have no idea how to do. Anyway I am on version 4.8 and I have the symbol to update but the 1 click updater says no updates available. Can any one help ? i believe WordPress is up to version 5.3 ?? I think.
