About custom domain name changing

I want to change my custom domain name without losing or deleting my existing data. How will I do this?

Hi there,
Adding a custom domain to your site or changing your site’s free address won’t do anything to your content. Your site will stay exactly as it is. It will just be at a new address.

Hi, thank you for your concern about my problems. I created a free blog and > globalmediaforchrist.wordpress.com. is used as the address. But I think it’s a long word, difficult for people to tap it. So I want to change it with a new, short one eg., gmc.wordpress.com etc. I don’t find where to set that.
I will be glad if you sent me how to make it, through my mail at (email visible only to moderators and staff) -

two- and three-letter addresses are not possible with free WordPress.com addresses, though.
Your other option is to register a custom domain instead, without the “wordpress” in it. That will require one of our paid plans.
