Abusive 'followers'

How do we block spammers/abuse throwers from following us? I am having real difficulty stopping a spammer from following my bog and posting abusive comments under nearly every article. I mean this stuff is really nusiance material. Surely, like with Twitter, wordpress should enable us to block spamming followers from following just because they want to harrass us with their junk. I have put all the comments this individual had thrown at me into the spam box but I’m still concerned that they haven’t really been blocked. Can you please assist me with this, how to put an end to them tagging along. I know I already sent this but I ticked the wrong option for publically displaying my question hence I re-posted it to you so I could tick the right box. I would rather let others have the benefit of reading the question I posted as they may very well have similar problems.

You can’t stop them from following your blog, but you can prevent them from commenting by adding them to your blacklist at Settings -> Discussion in your blog’s Dashboard.

Thanks for the tips, have just gone to the area you suggested and added the abuser’s profile to the blacklist section.
