Access to my FTP account and cPanel
-
As the title says, I’m getting started with wordpress, tried following the various FAQs and online tutorials, but the interface changed and they’re not up to date anymore. So I’m trying to configure an ftp client…so I need an ftp account, but don’t know how to create one; I already tried putting the same data I use in here, but didn’t work. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It sounds like you are trying to access a self-hosted WordPress.org site. What is the domain URL?
The fact that the site may have been built using WordPress, or may mention ‘Powered by WordPress’ (or something similar) simply means it is using the WordPress.org software, which can be downloaded and installed on any web host.
If you’re interested, you can learn more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:
I would recommend getting in touch with your host or domain registrar for support, or checking out these resources if your site was indeed built with WordPress software:

Thanks a lot, I probably mistook one for the other. So…to customize my site with my stuff etc (downloaded free plugins & stuff), I can’t do it on wordpress.com, but I can in my own hosted wordpress.org, right?
(my URL domain ends with “wordpress.com” by the way)

Exactly!

If you’re referring to a WordPress.com site, then you will not have access to FTP and cPanel. That is strictly for self-hosted sites.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
