access to private blog
-
I’ve previously only granted access to my private blog to people I recognise from their usernames (either from interactions on other sites or from when my blog was public). When someone with an unrecognised username requests access is there any way to know how they found my site or if they have a site of their own so I can check out their online interactions to get a sense of what they’re like and whether they seem ‘safe’?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, unfortunately, the email that WordPressdotcom sends you does not provide any further information like a link to that person’s gravatar profile or their website.
You might be able to winkle that out by adding the person’s username to the end of this link, https://en.gravatar.com/xxx replacing the xxx with the person’s username or by adding the username to https://xxx.wordpress.com but there’s no guarantee that this will provide any information at all about the user.
If you do add someone and wish to remove them later from your Private site, you can do that under People https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#viewing-and-removing-viewers-from-a-private-blog
Hope that helps but let us know if you have any other question about this.

Thanks, that was helpful. I tried another person’s suggestion as well which was to do a google search on “username”; because the username was uncommon the search returned a manageable number of results including a comment on another blog which I was able to view.
