access to reader
-
Hi, I am just watching the webinar for starting blogging – very helpful! I was send a direct link to the wordpress reader – and I can log in that way, but it is not visible from my home page. When I log-in directly my wordpress reader account doesn’t seem to be linked to my page account.

Jetpack: Unknown

Hm, I’m not sure what you mean.
What specifically is the URL of the “my home page” you’re expecting to find the Reader from?

My dashboard doesn’t have a tab for reader. <http://juliahale.ca/wp/wp-admin/>. Should it show up here? If not, how do I add it?

Thanks for confirming.
Nice, I’m digging your site!
To clarify things a bit, our webinars tend to show things that are built in to sites housed directly on our WordPress.com managed hosting. That’s the case with the Reader, which is installed by default on WordPress.com.
It looks like you are using a self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc. Canadian Web Hosting in your case from what I see. Those providers do offer WordPress, but they use the free open-source variant of the platform, which is a bit more simplified but does allow you to add plugins to gain functionality.
On WordPress.com we preinstall a bunch of functionality that is not normally installed on on those kinds of sites but the good news is that you can add the Jetpack plugin to your site, which is our plugin for connecting our services to your site so you have the same functionality, including the Reader.
You can learn more about the Jetpack plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
