Accessing a club site when the person with access has left

  Any ideas about how a club or group can access a site when the person who set it up has left without handing over the access information?

  Hi –

  This is a fairly common issue because only one person can actually own a site. It’s not possible for a group or organization to do so. Because of that, the only way forward is recovering the account access through proof of ownership.

  Do you know the site URL involved? I can send an email to the owner.

  Hi

  We have tried to contact the person responsible at various times over the years …. (This has been a problem since 2010) but to no avail.

  Unfortunately, a different organisation found the website and tried to contact us through it – only all the contact details for secretary etc are out of date.

  We had come to believe that accessing the Worpress site was a lost cause (we now use FB for most of our activities) but this recent communication error made me decide to try again.

  Hi there,

  You can reach out to the account recovery team from the email address staff-blorbo provided and they could potentially email the address connected to the account on your behalf to see if they respond, assuming that isn’t the way you have been trying to reach out to the owner.

  They also have the most insight into alternative methods for potentially giving you access to the account, so it is worth reaching out as a last resort.
