Accessing an existing site

I an the vice president of our local community historical society, Historic Bethlehem Inc. One of the duties my wife and I have is to manage the site created to promote our annual fund raising event, Autumn on the River. The site is https://autumnontheriver.wordpress.com/. As with most volunteer organizations, duties change on a regular basis. The last manager of this site was Tim Waterfill. Tim had to move to a different city, and relinquished control to my wife. He gave her management access via the email account he used. Through an unfortunate chain of events, we have lost access to the site. My wife in a rather short sighted decision, continued to use Tim’s access credentials. Tragically, Aug 9 of 2017, Tim died in a car wreck. As part of the closing of his estate, the family closed his email account. Revoking access to the Autumn on the River account for our organization. How do we go about opening access back up?

As a WordPress.com site only has one owner, if sites are set up for use by clubs/organizations it is critical that when the owner is no longer going to be administering the site that the correct procedures are used to transfer it to a new owner:

As you no don’t have access to the email address that set up the site then the above link probably won’t help you. WordPress.com does have this support page. It might be worth using the links provided there but certain paperwork is required:
