Accessing an outdated site without login credentials
-
I am with the Utah County Stormwater Coalition, looking to access and update our site. We do not have access at all, as the site was created around 2014, and no one has access to the email associated with the account. I have the old email and supposed password, but they do not work to login.
I know you can provide proof of ownership for the account, however, we do not have the exact materials requested on the form, and can therefore not submit a request. Is there any way someone can reach out to me directly so we can troubleshoot? I have alternate documentation I can provide. If there is a way to simply delete the site altogether so we can restart, we can do that too.

Since the account was created in 2014 and you lack the standard ownership materials, you should submit the Account Recovery Form and use the ‘Any other information’ field to explain your status as a government-affiliated coalition. While WordPress staff generally cannot reach out directly to initiate a private chat for security reasons, they can manually review alternative documentation—such as official letterheads or proof of the coalition’s legal identity—if you select the ‘I lost access to my email’ option. If recovery fails, your best alternative is a Privacy Takedown Request; if you can prove the site contains outdated or sensitive organizational information that you have the legal right to manage, they may be able to set the site to ‘Private’ or delete it to allow you to restart.

The problem is that I cannot submit an account recovery form without the listed documentation options. There is not an “I lost my email option” on there either, or anywhere to upload documents.

I am having the same issue. I cannot complete Account Recovery Form because I do not have the proper information. I would like to complete a Privacy Takedown Request but I do not see where to actually do that. The AI chatbot did not help.
