Accessing domain management after a domain redirect

  Hi, I am getting ready to redirect my wordpress.com domain to a self-hosted domain. I understand the process of redirecting my wordpress.com domain. However what is still a mystery to me is how can I log into my original wordpress.com blog to manage the domain should I want to change the redirect, or renew the annual subscription. In other words once the redirect starts everything is redirected to the self-hosted domain, how do I still manage the wordpress.com domain?

  As far as I understand (not having the upgrade myself) you should always be able to access it from the underlying WordPress.com URL. your.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
