My company purchased a site thu………..net and opened a website on WordPress.com’s system.
The original person who developed the website is no longer available. Before he left, signed on w/ a specific email (email visible only to moderators and staff) w/ a password. I asked him to turn over the control to me before he left.

I was able to sign in once to change the site to Maintenance Mode.

BUT. …..I am now unable to sign in and modify the site. Please help. Should I call or can someone advise me on how to recover this site?

  • What was the URL of the site?

Note that I was successful on April 24th to change the administration email address . I just now was able to sign on….but it says now that I have no website.

Please advise. And Thank You for your patience.

  • That is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    Help me to understand.

My partner created a website on WordPress.com under the domain thundermtn.net.
About May 15th: I was able to change the Login User Name to my organization’s email and I was able to change the password on WordPress.com. I was able to put the site in maintenance mode.
I can see that it worked on the website as it is displaying a Under Maintenance screen.
Now when I sign on to WordPress.com using the last set User Name and Password, the WordPress.com shows that I have no website created.

I am confused as to how is that a WordPress.org issue?

  • The site is not hosted with WordPress.com. You may have managed it on WordPress.com via the Jetpack plugin (it’s one of the features Jetpack offers), but it’s not a WordPress.com site, it’s a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

As such, we cannot assist with it.
