Accidentally deleted my domain. Will it be available again?

  Hi, I accidentally deleted my domain (registered with WordPress) as I wanted to self-host. I did not know that there is this option to transfer. May I know whether there is a possibility to get the domain name back? Thanks!

  Hi there,

  Of which domain are you speaking?

  Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future.

  If you’re speaking of mix4so.com, that domain should be released again towards the middle of next week, at which point you’ll be able to register it somewhere else.

  We can still restore it for you as well, but as you’ve already been refunded we’ll need to send you a link to pay for the domain again. Once it’s restored you can then point it to another provider, but you’ll only be able to transfer it once you’ve owned it for at least 60 days.

  Hi there, thanks for the swift reply. Yes the domain is mix4so.com. I would like to restore the domain name on WordPress if possible. Appreciate if you could assist on this process.

  Thanks for confirming. However, I’m afraid that domain was deleted at around the same time you posted your last comment here, so even if we saw it immediately we wouldn’t have been able to restore the domain in time.

  You should be able to buy that domain again as a new domain at any registrar within the next day or two. If you plan to self-host I recommend buying the domain directly with the hosting provider you’re going to use.

  Or if you’d prefer to have it registered with us, do not use the My Site ->Domains route, as that way you’d have to buy a new plan as well.

  Instead, go directly to https://wordpress.com/domains and register it there. At that screen you can register a domain only, without it being attached to any WordPress.com site, in order to use it with a site hosted somewhere else.
