Accidentally deleted WordPress Site (no lost content—just domain)

    I was trying to change my site from: dailydisciplepodcast.wordpress to dailydiscipleblog.wordpress
    Since I already created and possessed both of these sites (only dailydisciplepodcast had content), I was encountering difficulty in simply changing the name to dailydiscipleblog. So, I thought that deleting dailydiscipleblog would allow me to just change the name to it, since it wouldn’t be “in use” any more. Well, little did I know, this address apparently can NEVER BE USED AGAIN?? What the heck?!? How can I just change my domain from dailydisciplepodcast to dailydiscipleblog??? It was a simple change but seemed so complicated. Sorry for the extra work because of my stupidity. -Tim

    How can I just change my domain from dailydisciplepodcast to dailydiscipleblog?

    Unfortunately we don’t have a simple way to change the name of an existing site to another existing site’s name. It would basically involve overwriting one site with another.

    You could export from one and import into the other, but as the site deletion process warns, deleting the name does not free up the address. And if we did get the name back, you still wouldn’t be able to rename your site to that.

    The easiest route forward? If there’s another site name you’re willing to use that has not been used up yet, you’d be welcome to switch to that. Or you could add a custom domain, though I did notice http://dailydisciple.blog/ is already being used by another site.
