account closing questions

    I am wanting to close this account because I want to open an account with wordpress.org. Will closing this account affect that at all?

    Hi there,

    WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two completely separate websites, and nothing you do here will have any effect on any account you have over there.

    However, note that WordPress.org is not a hosting provider like WordPress.com. All that having an account on WordPress.org will give you is the ability to post in the WordPress.org forums, or to contribute to the open source WordPress project. An account there will not allow you to access any WordPress website, and you won’t be able to use it to create a site either.

    You also don’t need to close your WordPress.com account in order to register a WordPress.org account. As these are two completely different services, you can have an account at both at the same time.
