Account not found
-
Hi, I’m trying to recover an old WordPress.com account, but I’m stuck.
My account still exists publicly and I can see my blog and posts, but when I try to log in or recover it, it says “account not found” for both my username and email.
I can open my profile through links on my Instagram and Twitter, but that doesn’t log me in.
I also still have my original activation email, but using the link created a new account instead of restoring my old one.
I don’t have access to purchase receipts or MFA.
Can someone advise how I can recover the original account? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
The Account Recovery form at wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery accepts that activation URL as proof of ownership — but you need to paste the link into the form rather than click it.
You can try the following:- Go back to your original activation email and right-click the confirmation button (or link), then choose “Copy Link Address” — don’t click it.
- Head to the Account Recovery form.
- Check the box next to “Do you have an activation URL or key?” and paste the link into that field.
- Fill in whatever else you can and submit.
