Account password loss

  • Unknown's avatar

Our organization uses Word Press to provide information about events and activities we are organizing or hosting. The person who set up our account, however, is away and will be for some time, and is not able to be contacted. As a result we are unable to access login or account information associated with the account. We must access the account now, and are hoping that the information could be provided in order for us to complete a password reset. I have posted this query through a separate account as we are unable to access the account even to post for help.

Thanks very much for your time,

  • Hi there,

Can you please let me know your site’s address so I can point you in the right direction of getting support?

I have similar problem, can’t reach wp panel although I enter the correct password. It says that the password wasn’t correct and when I wan’t to reset the password I get an error mesage saying that the system is not able to send the e-mail.

  • Howdy –

http://ballyhouraactive.com/ does not use WordPress.com. It’s hosted at ABSTRACTDNS.COM not WordPress.com. This means that your site is using the WordPress installation. There’s actually 2 versions of WordPress. See here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

For help you will want to contact your hosting provider or use the community forums available at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

  • ayyegin – Please tell me what site you’re working on.

Thanks very much, is there a different login for the Word Press installation? And how would I contact the hosting provider, is there an email I can reach them at?

it is aylinyegin.com but I reached it via my hosting provider control panel and reset the password. now everything seems to be fine.

  • ayyegin – great news. Thanks for letting us know you’re all sorted.

is there a different login for the Word Press installation?

Yes. You need a WordPress.org account. It’s not the same as your WordPress.com one. They aren’t connected.

And how would I contact the hosting provider

I would search Google for “abstract dns web hosting” or something similar and see if you can find their help section. You can also search through your emails to see if you have any correspondence from them. They may even have social media accounts you can try to reach out to. Since this is a different company and unrelated to WordPress.com I’m not sure what that process will look like.

Hi, thanks very much! I’m still a little unclear, is this website linked to Word Press? If it is linked to a Word Press installation does that mean it’s not related to Word Press?

  • Hi there,

Let me try and clear the confusion.

WordPress is an open source software available for free. You can download it and install it on your host from https://wordpress.org/

We are WordPress.com, a hosting provider and we exclusively host websites using the WordPress software.

Since your site is not hosted by us. You need to either contact your host or post in the official WordPress.org support forums (https://wordpress.org/support/forums/).
