Account registration redirect to 404 page

When you attempt to register as a new account, but use an email address that is already registered, you are offered a link to login instead. However, this link takes you to a 404 page. I have a screenshot that illustrates this nicely.

You are describing expected behavior. Log out and clear your browser cache and cookies please. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ Then, without logging in, register a new username account and a blog or blogs(s) under it.

On reconsideration maybe what you are describing is not expected behavior. To register a blog under the same username account try using this link https://en.wordpress.com/signup/

Here is a screenshot that illustrates the problem. When the mouse is clicked on the login link (circled in red) it takes you to the invalid URL circled in red at the bottom.

This appears to be fixed now, as the link circled in the screenshot is now going to the correct login page. Here are the steps to get to the page in the screenshot:
1. Go to: https://akismet.com/plans/
2. Click the Sign Up button under the $5/month plan -
